MEET THE FOUNDER

Meet Matthew

Hi, I'm Matthew McNamee

With more than 35 years of teaching experience, I've had the privilege of helping children, teenagers and adults discover the joy of music across South Australia. My teaching career has included some of South Australia's most respected schools, including Immanuel College, Concordia College, St Michael's College, Tenison Woods College, and the South Australian Department for Education, where I worked as an instrumental music teacher supporting students of all abilities.

Alongside teaching, I've enjoyed a long career as a professional drummer, performing with many of Australia's most iconic artists, including Daryl Braithwaite, The Angels, Joe Camilleri, Kate Ceberano, Glenn Shorrock, Leo Sayer, Ross Wilson, Beeb Birtles (Little River Band) and many more. Today, I continue performing as drummer for the aussie legend John Schumann & The Vagabond Crew.

The most rewarding chapter of my career began when I discovered my passion for working with autistic and neurodivergent children. In 2018, I founded No Boundaries Music School with one simple vision: to create the kind of music school I wished existed—a place where everyone feels safe, understood, accepted and genuinely excited to learn  music. Since opening, we've supported hundreds of students and their families in our purpose-built, sensory-friendly studio.

To ensure our students receive the highest level of support, I am currently studying a Master of Autism at Griffith University. This allows me to combine decades of practical teaching experience with the latest evidence-based understanding of autism, ADHD and PDA, continually improving the way we support everyone.

Whether you are picking up drumsticks for the first time, discovering your voice, or building confidence through music, nothing is more rewarding than seeing everyone achieve something they once thought was impossible.

I'd love to welcome your family to No Boundaries Music School and show you what music can make possible.
